creme de peche, Kelly Nye, Gatov Gallery at Cal State Long Beach, November 8, 2009
A few weeks ago, my colleague Kelly Nye presented a pretty awesome fashion show as part of her MFA thesis exhibition at Cal State Long Beach. The pieces she created were inspired by vintage ladies’ undergarments and designed to accentuate typical “problem areas” on a woman’s body, such as muffin tops, thunder thighs, shoulder rolls, etc. I loved how seamlessly she appropriated the runway format as a vehicle for displaying her anti-fashion sculptures. Check out the complete video here.
