Friday, Dec. 4, 8pm: Marcus Civin, American Rifle Part I. Sea and Space Explorations’ Instruments of Risk performance series continues with this look at early America through the visions of Jean-Paul Marat and Charlotte Corday’s France, Wilhelm Reich’s Orgone Box, and something resembling a National Rifle Association. Saturday, Dec. 5, 9am to 5pm: Debating Through the Arts, A Performance Art Event. A daylong theatrical event in which artists mimic the Model United Nations as they debate such topics as freedom of expression, gentrification, and cultural equity. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2pm: Performance/Performativity/Enactment. Final meeting of a three-part class at The Public School exploring the theoretical construct of performance and performativity. You can still attend even if you haven’t done any of the reading to date. Click here to catch up.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 6 to 9pm: Machine Project Book Release Party at LACMA. Celebrating the release of A Machine Project Field Guide to LACMA, this evening will feature performances by local band Fol Chen, punk art collective Jennifer the Leopard, glass harmonica master The Douglas Lee, and a murder mystery theatrical performance by Jessica Z. Hutchins and Dawn Kasper. At 6pm, Emily Lacy gives an unrelated performance to launch her residency at the Japanese Pavilion. For more details click here.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 7 to 10pm: 1969: An Evening of Performance Organized by Vincent Ramos. Featuring Danielle Adair, Audrey Chan, Jason Kunke, Elana Mann, Emery Martin, and Women vs. Children. At The Friends of Distinction (Dan Graham), 1842 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles 90026.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 8pm: Francesco Gagliardi, Six Reconstructions. An exercise in recollection and another entry in the Sea and Space performance series.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 8:30am to 4:30pm: This Here and That There, a performance by New York-based artist Vlatka Horvat. Using the LA River as a venue, the artist will continuously rearrange 50 chairs over a period of eight hours into different configurations that suggest human encounters and interactions. At the LA River near the Great Heron Gate, corner of Fletcher Drive and Ripple Street in Elysian Valley. See Outpost for Contemporary Art for details.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 4 to 7pm: Godzilla v. Mothra, a performance piece by Michael Ano. If you know him, call him. The event will take place at his house. A catalogue of essays will be published.

Saturday, Dec. 19, 5-8pm: Conceptual Lit Reading and CREDIT Book Launch. Harold Abramowitz, Joseph Mosconi, Bruna Mori, Vanessa Place, Ara Shirinyan, Brian Kim Stefans, Mathew Timmons and Christine Wertheim will read from their work, while celebrating the release of Timmons’ book, CREDIT.
