Another busy, busy weekend in LA…

Fri, Sat, and Sun, Jan. 22-24, 8pm sharp: Asher Hartman’s Bad Thing: A Dark Performance Play. Painter-director Asher Hartman mixes elements of theater, installation, and painting to explore the guilt and pleasure inherent in American violence. This event is completely SOLD OUT on all three days. Presented by Sea and Space Explorations in Highland Park.

Sat, Jan. 23, 6-11 pm (performances begin at 7): Doin it Live: Performance and Interaction. Local and international artists working with a variety of performative strategies. Organized by John Burtle and featuring Alexis Disselkoen, Frederic Cybulski, Sojung Kwon, Jackson Fledermaus, Tobias Karlsson, and Who Are We?. At Wrinkled Space (Dan Graham) in Silverlake.

Sat, Jan. 23, 7pm: Dynasty Handbag and Anna Oxygen perform at the new Pieter PASD. Admission is a non-monetary donation to the FREE Bar, where everyone drinks for free, or the FREE Boutique, where everyone shops for free.

Sun, Jan. 24, 2-5pm: this is a performance, organized by Sam Gordon. Revolving around the ideas of action painting vs. performance relic, and artifact vs. document, this is a performance gathers nine artists and draws connections between seemingly disparate work. Featuring Jibz Cameron, Jake Ewert, Daniel Feinberg, Keltie Ferris, Daphne Fitzpatrick, Jacob Robichaux, rebecca Schiffman, A.L. Steiner, and Wesley willis. A selection of publications and multiples produced by the artists will also be available. At Artist Curated Projects.

Sun, Jan. 24, 12pm: Actions, Conversations, and Intersections: an exhibition of participatory projects opens at LA Municipal Art Gallery in Barnsdall Park. A broad survey of projects by Los Angeles artists and collectives curated by Edith Abeyta and Michael Lewis Miller. This Sunday is the Anarchist Bookfair from 12 to 5pm; a variety of performances and projects are planned through April 18. For a complete schedule, check their website.
