I received an email from the lovely Wu Tsang informing me of an important event happening this Wednesday night, 8:30 to midnight, at Dinner House M in Echo Park/Filipinotown. First of all, it’s a benefit for the legendary nightclub performer Sonji Kimmons, who has fallen on hard times. Secondly, Charles and Malik Gaines will be doing a very special father-and-son duo performance around 11pm. A sliding-scale entrance fee of $20 (no one turned away for lack of cash) will get you a delicious curry dinner by Anna Margarita Albelo and guest DJing by Nguzunguzu. Should be the event of the week! But if you can’t go, you can still support the cause via their online campaign.
